The interns are coming, the interns are coming! Last week marked the beginning of the 3rd annual LaFontaine Summer Internship Program. We had more than 20 interns join us at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac eager to begin their summer. These interns won’t just be fetching coffee and lunches; they will be engaged in 12 weeks of in-field experience as well as one-on-one mentoring from executives within the group.
New this year is the LaFontaine Specialized Internship Program that provides the opportunity for students to dive deep into the responsibilities and duties of a specific career in an automotive dealership, where they will gain invaluable experience and insight. Specialized Internships are available in new & used sales, service department, business development, marketing and F&I. We hope to learn as much from them as they learn from us.
In addition to the Specialized Internship Program, LaFontaine provide’s an Executive and Corporate level internship. The LaFontaine Executive Internship Program provides the opportunity for students to dive deep into the responsibilities and duties of a specific career in an automotive dealership, where they will gain invaluable experience and insight. Each participant will be assigned a mentor, where they will work together as a team throughout the 12-week program. The mentors and direct bosses will take the intern under their wing, educating and developing a working relationship where the interns will become familiar with all of the tools, processes, procedures, policies and best practices. Executive Internships are offered in New and Used Car Sales, Service, Business Development and Marketing.
The LaFontaine Corporate Internship Program offers a comprehensive overview of the day-to-day operations of an automotive dealership, observing and participating in a thriving retail environment. After the internship, each participant will possess a solid understanding of the duties of various careers within the dealership. To begin the 12-week program, interns will spend the first week learning about the LaFontaine Automotive Group, visiting each dealership and walking through every department. They will then enter an eight-week rotation where they will be fully immersed in four areas of the dealership, spending two weeks in each one, while being coached by their mentor. Departments include New and Pre-Owned Sales, F&I, Service, Parts, Body Shop, Office, and Business Development.
In the final two weeks of the Corporate Internship Program, interns will spend time in the department of their choosing. The objective is to gain experience in each department with in depth training.
To complete the program, each intern will give a final presentation in front of their mentors, direct bosses, the LaFontaine family and the organization’s executives.
Welcome to the FAMILY, interns!
