Lauren LaFontaine, grand-niece of Mike Sr. & Maureen LaFontaine, was diagnosed in May 2013 with a rare form of cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma.
Lauren started experiencing pain in her left calf in April 2013. Initially, her doctor assumed it was just a strained muscle, but after weeks of increasing pain and extreme swelling, it was evident that something else was wrong. After many tests and days of waiting anxiously with stress and worry, Lauren and her family learned the devastating confirmation of Lauren’s cancer.
Lauren started chemotherapy on June 10th and has been in and out of the hospital on a regular basis since then for treatments and complications resulting from those treatments.
In September, the doctors performed surgery to remove part of the bone in her leg containing the cancer, and replaced it with a cadaver bone. Unfortunately, they were not able to remove all of the cancer, so radiation treatments will be necessary. She has a long road ahead to battle this cancer, but she is a brave little girl and she WILL conquer!
Lauren’s Family has created a page on GoFundMe.com so supporters can share their love and support as well as make donations to help cover Lauren’s medical expenses.
