One of only 275 GM dealerships nationwide who are eligible to be recognized for their eco-friendly efforts
HIGHLAND, Michigan: July 7, 2020 – LaFontaine Cadillac Buick GMC of Highland is showing customers its environmental credentials and was named a 2020 General Motors certified Green Dealer. LaFontaine’s Highland location has been recognized as a GM Green Dealer for six years (2015-2020), and has a proven track record in areas such as energy reduction, renewable energy use, water conservation efforts, recycling, onsite nature habitats and community outreach.
“Our significant sustainability efforts have had a positive impact on our bottom line, our workplace culture and our customers,” said Robert Simmons, Executive General Manager, LaFontaine Automotive Group. “Ryan, Kelley and our entire LaFontaine Family make it a top priority to bring green initiatives throughout our Group and continually strive to be an environmental leader in our community.”
The dealership had gone through an assessment and validation that they have a high percentage of 60 eco-friendly business practices across 10 categories. This recognition today is an indication that they have continued to improve on that base of required initiatives.
LaFontaine Cadillac Buick GMC of Highland is one of only 275 GM dealerships who are eligible to be recertified for this Green Dealer program. LaFontaine’s Highland location was the first General Motors dealership in the world to receive the acclaimed Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) status when it was built in 2008.
The Group’s Cadillac Buick GMC location, also known as the “Green” store has been a pioneer of the incorporation of eco-friendly factors into the production and upkeep of the store. Leading by example, this store has been an influence to our other locations, such as our Gold-LEED certified Ford store in Birch Run, our Silver-LEED certified stores in Dexter (LaFontaine Chevrolet) and in Dearborn (LaFontaine Volkswagen).
Consisting of 17 retail locations across Southeast Michigan, four of LaFontaine’s locations are national leaders in their environmental efforts and are LEED certified. LaFontaine Automotive Group is the only dealership group in the nation with four LEED certified dealerships.
“Green Dealer Support has long been committed to be a leader in environmental stewardship, and we’re proud that our dealers share this commitment to serve and improve the communities where we work and live,” said Chuck Golden, CEO of Green Dealer Support.
The Green Dealer Program aligns with their manufacturers companywide efforts to reduce its environmental footprint. The program was designed to encourage dealers to implement green initiatives as part of their operations, create a network for sharing best practices and help other dealers begin or advance their sustainability journey.
