August has arrived and that means it’s almost time for one of our favorite summer events, Milford Memories.
Each year during the second full weekend in August, the Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer committee proudly put on one of the best festivals to attend throughout the country.
Whether this is your first time coming to the annual summer festival or you haven’t missed a show since it’s inception in 1992, here are 7 family friendly activities you don’t want to miss at this year’s Milford Memories.
1. Youth Sand Volleyball Clinic
Bump, set and spike your way over to the sand volleyball court at Milford’s Central Park for a clinic hosted by the Huron Valley Schools on Saturday, August 8th from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
This clinic is for kids ages 11 to 14 and costs $15 per person for residents and $25 per person for non-residents. Visit huronvalleyrec.com, click the register button and search for course 2547 to get signed up today.
2. Kids Fishing Tournament
Show off your angling skills at the Kids Fishing Tournament, sponsored by Brien’s Services, Inc.
This year fishing tournament will be held on Saturday Aug 8th in Central Park on the banks of the Huron River. Registration will be at 9 AM with the tournament starting at 9:30 AM.
Kids 18 years and younger are eligible to participate. Due to the popularity of this event, it is recommended you pre-register. Download the registration application here.
3. #DriveThroughSummer Selfie Contest
Stop by the photo booth set up at the LaFontaine Cadillac Buick GMC display for your chance to win fabulous prizes including Selfie Sticks and even a new Apple Watch!
Use the photo booth to take a selfie, post your favorite pic to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter using the #DriveThroughSummer hashtag and you’ll be entered to win.
4. Kid Central
While there’s plenty of art, food and beverages for us adults to enjoy at Milford Memories – our kiddos can get really bored really fast if we aren’t keeping them entertained with kid friendly activities.
Luckily for us Milford Memories has set up Kid Central, a kid activities tent sponsored by St. John Providence Hospital and hosted by Friends Preschool.
The tent is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM and full of fun activities for the kids to enjoy.
5. Live Musical Entertainment
The LaFontaine Family Amphitheater will be put to good use during Milford Memories as local bands and performers will take the stage all weekend long to entertain the crowd with live music.
Enjoy the music and all that the AMP offers on Friday & Saturday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
6. Pancake Breakfast
“Who wants pancakes?!”
Utter that phrase in my house, and the kids will drop whatever they’re doing and rush to the table to eat up the tastiest breakfast food ever invented.
Start your day out right at Milford Memories with a delicious Pancake Breakfast on Friday and Saturday from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM – all you need to bring in an empty stomach!
7. 1 Mile Fun Run
Work up an appetite for those pancakes by participating in the 2015 Milford Memories 1 Mile Run!
Sponsored by Community Choice Credit Union, this run for the entire family starts at 7:30 AM on Sunday, August 9th.
There’s a lot more going on at Milford Memories this year than just these events. Be sure to visit the Milford Memories website for a list of all the activities going on for the young and the old!
