Archives For LaFontaine Automotive Group

Each spring on Mother’s Day, we collectively dedicate a Sunday to celebrating all that our mom’s have done and still do for us. But to be honest, one day out of 365 just doesn’t seem like enough, does it? Don’t our mom’s deserve more than one single day out of the year?

Celebrating the Month of Mom at LaFontiane| #MonthOfMom

Think about all the diaper changes, the chauffeur rides to the mall, the birthday parties and holiday celebrations, the extracurricular school activities and sports, the words of wisdom, the shoulder to cry on, that extra ten bucks for gas money, the sometimes-not-so-gentle reminders to mow the lawn or clean up our rooms….

I could go on, but you get the point – our mom’s do A LOT!

When you add it all up I think it’s clear that mom’s should be celebrated for way longer than just one day. That’s why at the LaFontaine Automotive Group, we’re officially renaming the month of May as the Month Of Mom.

On May 1, 1980 Mike LaFontaine Sr. purchased his very first car dealership. Exactly 35 years later I’m excited to introduce you to our newest family member, LaFontaine Ford of Frankenmuth.

On a beautiful spring morning in Frankenmuth, the LaFontaine and Galsterer families completed the sale of Galsterer Ford to the LaFontaine Automotive Group.

Introducing LaFontaine Ford of Frankenmuth

For nearly 100 years, the Galsterer Ford dealership has been a very large part of the Frankenmuth community. Taking care of their customers, employees and being good stewards in town was always important to the three-generation family.

As they began to ponder retirement and with none of their next generation interested in the car business, brothers Mike and Robert Galsterer searched for the proper partners as they prepared to turn over the family car dealership to new owners.

Today I am pleased to announce that the Dwyer and LaFontaine families recently came together to officially transfer ownership of Dwyer and Sons Volvo to the LaFontaine Automotive Group.

Because of our desire to provide our guests with the intimate Volvo experience they deserve, we’re relocating our Volvo dealership from it’s current location in Commerce to Farmington Hills – just a few miles down the road.

Volvo Cars of Farmington Hills

Officially the dealership will be known as Volvo Cars of Farmington Hills (located at 24730 Haggerty Road) and will be open for sales and service on April 1, 2015.

Frank Dwyer will be personally involved in the daily operations of Volvo Cars of Farmington Hills, and I know he’s looking forward to carrying on the Dwyer tradition of customer service at our new location.

Each year, Consumer Reports issues a comprehensive study that tracks the reliability of all vehicles sold in the United States covering brand new models to models up to ten years old.

Known as the Consumer Reports Reliability Survey, the information that they gather and organize is always a welcome resource to consumers looking to make an educated decision when purchasing a new or used vehicle.

This year Consumer Reports sent out over 8 million surveys to its subscriber base asking about the experiences with their vehicles over the previous 12 months.

Over 1.1 million people responded to the survey, making it one of the most useful and data-rich studies about vehicle ownership for 2015 and beyond.

I wanted to highlight a few of the vehicles and manufacturers that earned the highest reliability rankings to give you an idea of what the Consumer Reports Reliability Survey is all about.

Toyota: Most Reliable Non-Luxury Auto Maker

Toyota comes in at number 2 for overall reliability (their luxury arm, Lexus, holds the number 1 spot) and continues to enjoy a comfortable lead for most reliable non-luxury auto maker.

One of the reasons Toyota manages to do that, we believe, is that they introduce new technologies slowly and on proven platforms.

While their vehicles may seem to some as plain, you can’t deny the fact that the Toyota line-up has some the most impressive and reliable mainstream vehicles in the industry today.

We’ve all had that moment: driving along, and your car makes a noise like a polar bear inside a dryer. We hear it….and ignore it. Or we pray that it goes away. Because we know that, if we take it to get looked at, they may give us that most grim of diagnoses for car owners: you’re gonna need to get a new vehicle.

And maybe we’ve heard that before. And another time. But for reasons near and dear to us, we can’t bear to part with the car. Maybe it’s financial reasons, or maybe it’s a gift your grandparents got you when you turned 16. Either way, it can be tough to let go of such an important part of your life.

Moving-On-Kids-Cars-College-TitleYou’re not the only ones having this sort of problem. We’re in August, which means kids will soon be filing back to school. For some parents, their kids will be going to college. The same kids that they’ve packed lunches for, checked homework for, driven around for school projects and homecoming dances….they’ll soon be off on their own. This can be very scary for parents, and they may not know what to do.

But it’s funny; you can handle both situations the same way…..remember the good times, and move on.
