The Family Deal. It’s not just what you get, it’s how you feel.

When flipping though my vintage magazine collection looking for an interesting piece of automotive advertising to share with you, I stumbled across this gem of an ad for the 1978 Dodge Magnum XE.

It’s not the look of the ad that caught my attention, it’s the totally outrageous story that’s being told.

1978 Doge Magnum XE Vintage Magazine Ad

A well dressed man in a tuxedo approaches a beautiful woman at a roulette table (in what I can only assume is a swanky casino) and opens with “Ever been….car-napped my dear?”

Say what!? Seriously, Dodge?

If you were to play out this opening scene today, this guy would probably get maced, punched and promptly escorted off the casino’s premises with him asking himself aloud, “was it something I said?”.

But apparently in 1978, the appropriate way for this young lady to react is to say “Car-napped? How intriguing!” /facepalm

As a person who has collected many things in his life, I have quite a bit of stuff stashed in the nooks and crannies of my home (much to my wife’s chagrin).

Amid the assortment of collected comic books, baseball cards and random childhood mementos is a fairly large collection of vintage magazines dating from the 1960’s through the 1990’s.

Vintage Magazine on Wooden TableWhile flipping through some of these old-school mags, I couldn’t help but notice all the different vintage car ads. Really cool car ads mind you. Especially the stuff from the 60’s and 70’s.

Not wanting to keep all this content to myself, I started carefully scanning some of these ads to share with you.

So each week on #ThrowbackThursday I’ll be sharing a new vintage car magazine ad so you get the chance to appreciate them like I do.

The first in this ongoing series is a colorful ad for the 1974 Jeep Renegade CJ-5. Check it out….

Four years ago a tradition was started at LaFontaine Cadillac Buick GMC with an event that we now call the LaFontaine Family Fun Fest.

Local residents and the families of our employees were invited in to the dealership to enjoy a safe and fun alternative to Halloween trick-or-treating.

Each year since, the Fun Fest has been an event that we all look forward to.

Because it has always been such an enjoyable event for kids and adults alike, it made sense to hold a Fun Fest at more of our locations.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret about car dealerships. They’re all the same….except for the people.

The fact is, every dealership in the country is built and designed to let you buy a car and service your vehicle. In the grand scheme of things, it’s a pretty level playing field.

So what makes one dealership stand apart from the rest? The people who work there!

Evan-Fischbach-Secret-to-Success-SocialOver my four year career with the LaFontaine Automotive Group, I’ve come to realize just how blessed we are to have some of the most passionate and talented individuals working for us in all aspects of our business.

We all come from various backgrounds with diverse skills and aptitudes. When you take these individuals and put them together in a positive working environment, amazing things can and do happen.

Not too long ago I told you how Doug Kropp of LaFontaine Toyota became one of the few Toyota Master Diagnostic Technicians in all of Michigan – a rare and huge accomplishment.

Today I’m sharing this fascinating story that recently ran on Bloomberg News about Evan Fischbach, one of our service technicians at LaFontaine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Saline, MI.

As you’ll see, Evan is truly an extraordinary young man who is blazing his own trail in what some may consider an unusual way…
