Wow, that was quick.
It seems just like yesterday that we were showing you how to keep your New Year’s Resolution for 2014, and now we’re about to take a look back at the year that was here on FamilyDealBlog.com, the official blog of the LaFontaine Automotive Group.
2014 was a pretty big year for us so without any further ado, here are some of the highlights from the past 365 days.
2014 got off to a great start for the crew at LaFontaine Chevrolet when the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado won the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards.
Recognized as the most prestigious awards in the automotive industry, it’s an honor to garner this kind of recognition among heavy competition.
It’s always nice to be recognized for your hard work, and in February of 2014, Karla Griscom was named the Member of the Year by the Hartland Chamber of Commerce.
Karla truly embodies all the best qualities that are valued by the LaFontaine Family and we’re thrilled she was honored with this award.
While most of 2014 was filled with smiles and laughs, it’s hard to ignore the impact that the GM Ignition Switch Recall had on the automotive industry.
With over 1.6 million vehicles recalled, it’s effect was far reaching and dramatic.
If there’s a silver lining in this story it’s that all auto manufactures are now inspecting their own processes to ensure that any issues that turn up are addressed quickly and with vigor.
In April of 2014, the LaFontaine Automotive Group announced to the world the newest addition to the family – LaFontaine Subaru!
Our facility in Commerce, Michigan is currently undergoing a state of the art face-lift and you can bet we’ll be talking all about it in our 2015 year in review!
This past spring, Ryan, Kelley and the rest of Team LaFontaine achieved their goal of raising over one million dollars to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The good news came during Team LaFontaine’s annual 9 & Wine Fundraiser. In the video above Ryan and Kelly talk about the events that led them down this path and what it means to reach their goal.
From the bottom of all our hearts, we thank each and every one of you who helped us meet our goals.
The arrival of summer brought with it the 97th Michigan Open Championship played at Prestwick Village Golf Club and presented by LaFontaine Cadillac.
After 4 rounds of exhilarating play, Ryan Brehm held off the charge of Joey Garber to take home a big novelty check and a lease on a new 2014 Cadillac ATS.
FamilyDealBlog.com also welcomed our first ever guest-blogger as Greg Johnson, professional sports writer from Grand Rapids, covered the entire event for us right here on our blog!
This summer, the team at the LaFontaine Import Super Center in Dearborn intorduced the world to #Enjoyability.
What is #enjoability you ask? It’s hard to put in to words, so why not watch the video and see for yourself.
The original idea of the LaFontaine Used Car King was to build a website to house all of the used car inventory located at our 13 different locations.
With thousands of quality pre-owned cars available to browse in the palm of your hand, we knew we had hit right from the start.
The natural evolution of LUCK was to take that online shopping experience and open a brick and mortar store for our guests to visit in person.
In the early fall, we went out on a limb by introducing a new weekly Fantasy Football column written by LaFontaine Digital Marketing Assistant, Jeremy Sheldon.
This was new ground for us because it was the first time we strayed away from publishing content centered around cars, family and community.
Turns out we were on solid ground because Jeremy’s fantasy football articles quickly became some of our most popular items each and every week.
In the early fall of 2014, we welcomed another addition to the family – LaFontaine Ford of Gladwin!
If you’re not familiar with the Gladwin area, it’s located in the heart of Michigan, with easy access from the I-75, U.S.-10, and U.S.-127 expressways.
While Gladwin may be far away from our other stores distance wise, it’s still very close to our hearts.
Just as the weather started to turn Michigan-Cold, our hearts were set ablaze by this wonderful story.
When Jenifer Thomas didn’t win a raffle that would have given her son a ride on a fire truck to school, the wheels for something bigger were set in motion that would lead to a once in a life time experience.
Watch the video above to see how it happened (and be sure to keep a dozen or so tissues handy).
We closed out the last month of the year by being named one of the Nation’s Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies for 2014.
This award celebrates organizations that inspire and produce green technology to impact the industry and environment.
We were honored to win this award, and it was the perfect close to an amazing year!
What’s Coming in 2015?
So how do you top a year like 2014? It’s going to be tough but we’re up for the challenge.
For 2015, we’ll be expanding the scope of FamilyDealBlog.com cover Health, Lifestyle, Sports and Technology topics in addition to our Cars, Family and Community content.
And as far as the LaFontaine Automotive Group as a whole goes, you can expect our employees to do some amazing things and maybe (just maybe) we’ll welcome another member or two to our family of dealerships.
Thank you for joining us in 2014 and stay tuned for more in 2015!
